Why this project exists

An income of her own changes everything.

In the villages where NCDS works, most women have never had an independent income. When a husband falls ill, leaves, or passes away, families collapse into crisis overnight. A skill — and the tools to use it — changes that equation permanently. A woman who can tailor earns in her own village, on her own terms. A young person who can use a computer can apply for jobs the previous generation never knew existed.

Sub-programme 1

Silai Saugath — the gift of tailoring.

Silai Saugath ("the gift of stitching") has trained more than 500 women across Chhattisgarh, Madhya Pradesh, Maharashtra, and Odisha. Each batch learns cutting, stitching, and garment-making over a structured course that ends with a graduation ceremony — and for many, a sewing machine of their own.

Graduates tailor for their villages, take orders from nearby markets, and train other women in turn. The programme doesn't just teach a skill; it builds a local economy run by women.

Sub-programme 2

Digital Literacy Programme.

For youth and school dropouts, basic computer skills are the bridge to modern work. Our Digital Literacy Programme teaches typing, document work, internet use, and digital payments — the practical skills employers in nearby towns actually ask for.

Classes run in NCDS centres with hands-on practice, and graduates receive guidance on applying for jobs and continuing education.
